Local Reactions to the National HIV/AIDS Strategy

"The release of the National AIDS Strategy (NAS) can be used as an opportunity to raise awareness regarding prevention and access to care. In Chicago, African Americans are disproportionately impacted by HIV/AIDS. Applying the tenets of the NAS locally can ensure that funds are redirected to specific Chicago geographic areas and specific targeted populations, specifically to gay men of color, women and the reentry population."

Today is National ADAP Call-in Day! Demand that President Obama Address the ADAP Crisis NOW!!!

We know you’ve called and emailed, but we need to keep the pressure up. Around America, nearly 1,800 people in 10 states can’t get the HIV medications they need to stay healthy and alive because of the woefully underfunded AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP), and people with HIV in Illinois now face the same fate.

Urge President Obama to Provide Emergency Funding for ADAPs in Crisis

AIDS Drug Assistance Programs provided medications to over 166,000 individuals in FY2009.  Unfortunately, many ADAPs have put in place barriers to access such as reducing the eligibility, changing the formulary, and closing enrollment. Nearly 1,000 individuals in nine states are on waiting lists to receive their life-saving and life-sustaining medications through the AIDS Drug Assistance Programs (ADAP). We need your help to ensure that the Obama Administration takes action to help those in need!

How you can help:

There are two ways you can help.  By the end of the week please call or email (or both) the White House.
