Register to Vote: Because Dictators are No Fun
To the left you'll see a display of the most notorious, taupe and forest green-suited tyrants the world has ever known, and none of them are American. The United States may be [insert negative descriptor here], but at least we still get to pick our leaders by voting in primary and general elections. This is why, while we may have some bad presidents, we are not stuck with them for life.
The first step is to register to vote!
The second: Find out where to mail your voter registration form.
Many countries in the Middle East and Africa have recently taken to the streets to demand a representative government like the one we have. People in these countries are giving their lives for the privilege to vote and seem to think we got something pretty good going on here - so why don't we?
In 2008 only 56% of eligible voters actually cast a ballot. And yet democracy only works when all groups participate in the process - which means we all have to exercise our right and vote!
If you want elected leaders to take HIV/AIDS seriously in 2012, then you need to represent at the ballot box. Soooooo, we're only going to ask once: Are you registered to vote or what?
